The Eclipse on April 8th, 2024
Thoughts on this eclipse season…
It’s a doozy.
Normally there are fast shifts and changes with every eclipse and these two are no different. We all have been feeling a lot since the eclipse on March 25th. It was a bit of a warm up to what is coming on April 8th. What is different about this upcoming eclipse as compared to most is a few things:
First is the groupings of energy. Every planet has its own unique energy or vibration. These vibrations are affected and change a bit depending on what section of the Universe the planet is going through as well as its interactions with other planets and stars. When two planets are nearby each other their energy combines and increases. It also blends. The two energies of the planets start feeling each other’s vibration and develop a unique vibration that also is flavored by the section of sky that it is in. There are four planetary groupings going on with this eclipse on April 8th. Only one planet is off by itself. This is unusual.
The second thing that is different about this April 8th eclipse is that these groupings of planets are not having interactions with each other. Pluto is the only planet off by itself and it has a loose but friendly connection to the planets Venus and Neptune which are together. All the other groupings are experiencing this building up of energy with no place for it to flow. Kinda like a pressure cooker. This is also unusual.
The third thing that is unusual about this eclipse is that only one planet is in a place in the sky that it is comfortable. That planet is the mysterious Neptune that has the energy of sensitivity, spirituality, artistry and divine visions and fantasy’s. Every other planet is in an area of the Universe that it doesn’t vibe well in. Even more discomfort.
Fourth and final struggle with this eclipse is that on April 1st, Mercury goes retrograde. Mercury is the planet that rules communication, thinking, short trips, technologies, sales and merchants, youth. Mercury likes to learn, think and debate but when it is in the section of the Universe called Aries it is impulsive and acts first while thinking later, if the thinking ever occurs. When Mercury goes retrograde it appears to be moving backwards in the sky.This is because its orbit is closer to the Sun and lapping Earth. During Mercury retrograde we normally don’t see things clearly at first. It’s like looking in a warped mirror before realizing why you look different. Mercury retrograde in any section of the Universe is worth staying on your toes for. However, Mercury is in the action oriented section of sky, Aries, and the impulsiveness, self oriented energy affecting Mercury right now has the added effect of confusion on April 1st through April 25th.
As a general rule of thumb, I try to stay off the road when Mercury is changing directions like it will on April 1st and 25th. Traffic is normally terrible that day and wrong turns are typically inevitable. This particular Mercury retrograde will give us worse drivers than usual so please be careful. Speed is another thing that Mercury in Aries enjoys and when first glance isn’t clear it’s good to remember to be cautious. That won’t be the communal impulse though.
To do a mini summary right now, understand that there is a lot of uncomfortable energies building up with no easy release right now and as a whole we are impulsive and about to not see things clearly. Our super power right now is to lean into our spirituality and to remember to give ourselves and each other grace. Lots of grace.
The area of the Universe that Neptune, the planet of spirituality, is hanging out in is called Pisces. Also in Pisces, separately, there is a pair of planets motivating us to be super precise in our spirituality. Saturn and Mars are together in Pisces as well. These two bring in the want of precision and exactness. Precision is something that can bog us down with judgements. When we are trying to be precise in an area that enjoys fluidity it is easy to be negative and see things as worse than they really are. To be frustrated and irritated that our spirituality, art, intuition is not perfect doesn’t sync well together. Our soulful expressions will be brought to the forefront of our minds during this eclipse season but there is the devil in our ear saying we are imperfectly doing our spiritual expression during this time as well.
It will be hard to clearly see the impact this eclipse has until the end of April and maybe even further out than that. How things seem will then be reseen in a better and clearer light.
I debated within my mind whether to go deeply into the struggles and frustrations that are boiling underneath the surface right now. A lot of these are long term energies that are all being highlighted by this eclipse so instead I have decided to write this weeks horoscope by leaning into the solution. Our spirituality and connection with the divine are our super power and our solace right now. Some good things will probably come out of this eclipse for everyone but they are on the other side of the struggle. The journey to good requires some sacrifice and healing in the midst of drama while we walk the path.

Aries Rising: Solitude and reflection are important parts of your spiritual journey right now. Recent transformations in your friend group has probably brought the in the idea of including your friends in your spiritual practice in some way. Getting together to pray, meditate and visualize will be a great use of your spiritual super powers during this eclipse season.
Taurus Rising: You connect to the divine through and with your friends. Maybe you’re in a spiritual study group together or in the same yoga class but recently some changes have been bubbling up at work. A coworker or colleague may be altering or enhancing your spiritual path and including them in the spiritual rituals with your friends would be good during this eclipse season.
Gemini Rising: Work is your calling and spiritual path in this life. Even if what you do seems mundane and trivial, some part of it feeds your soul and that in turn blesses others souls. A recent desire to master or conquer something has been brewing in your soul. Perhaps someone from a far away place has come into your life recently and stirred this up. This long journey of mastery is strengthening your calling and legacy in this world and sharing it with people at work is good for you during this eclipse season.
Cancer Rising: Philosophical conversations, traveling to foreign lands and mastering knowledge makes you feel more settled spiritually. An interest in the underbelly of life has recently come up and is deepening your longing for knowledge of other worlds and other lands. Experiencing some secret places that may be uncomfortable for you will deepen your faith this eclipse season.
Leo Rising: Keeping the secrets of suffering souls has always been a part of your spiritual process. Recently someone has come into your life and things are very different now than they were at the start of the year. This person is causing you to dive deep into darkness and places and stories not easily talked about and shared. Facing these with empathy and compassion will be good for you this eclipse season.
Virgo Rising: Long term relationships are callings to you. Partners are on your spiritual journey with you is how you see it. Recently there have been changes in your daily life and work routines and this is causing you to take a more “meant to be” approach with your spouse or partner. Meditate or pray together with your loved one this eclipse season and it will do both of you good.
